Golf tournament benefits Christensen Community and Family Support Center

METHUEN - The 12th annual Michael B. Christensen Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Aug. 19 at Merrimack Valley Golf Club on Howe Street. Tee time is 8 a.m.

The cost is $125 per person and includes a continental breakfast, mid-morning sandwich and dinner buffet. There are also sponsor opportunities such as a $300 Hole Sponsor, which includes one free golfer; $2,500 major tournament sponsor with two free foursome teams and cart sponsor.

Proceeds go to the Michael B. Christensen Community and Family Support Center. The event is sponsored by the Exchange Club of Lawrence and Greater Lawrence Community Action Council.

Timberlane nominates new academic deans

As part of their initiative to re-organize the high school, the Timberlane Regional School Board and superintendent’s leadership team announced the nominations of new academic deans.

Renzo Binaghi is nominated for Dean of Alternative and Continuing Education. Binaghi is the director of Alternative and Continued Education at Timberlane.

Timberlane Regional High French teacher Sandra Allaire is nominated for Dean of Arts and Humanities.

Michael Flynn has been nominated for Dean of Business, Information and Commmunication Technology. Flynn comes to Timberlane from the Milford School District where he was a computer technology teacher.

William Mealey has been nominated for Dean of Attendance. Mealey has taught at Timberlane for 13 years and was the special education department’s teacher leader for the last four years.

Haverhill Farmers Market now open on Saturdays

The Haverhill Farmers Market has returned for its 35th season and is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The outdoor market is located next to the Haverhill Police Department at 40 Bailey Blvd. This year’s market features more than 25 vendors, including Parker River Winery, Soula’s Homemade Salsa, Jodi Bee Bakes, National Sharpening Company (knife and tool sharpener), and ApotheCaring Teas as well as some talented crafters.
