---- — AMESBURY — The Lake Gardner Improvement Association will hold its first Lake Gardner Canoe-O-Canoe, Kayak and SUP Orienteering Adventure Race on July 20 at the Lake Gardner public beach off of High Street in Amesbury.
For those not familiar with canoe orienteering, it is similar to a scavenger hunt with a canoe, kayak or SUP (Stand Up Paddle Board). The only equipment you will need is your boat, paddles and floatation devises. There will be a canoe orienteering clinic at 9 a.m. and registration is from 9:45 to 11:30 a.m. Orienteering starting times are from 10 a.m. to noon.
This event will feature two great courses and all paddlers from novice to advanced are welcome. There will also be a fun, short course for those who have never experienced orienteering and a longer course for the more experienced. Registration fee is $15 for adults, $10 for current NECKRA members and $5 for youths under 17.
This is an easy flat water paddle through scenic Lake Gardner and the Powow River. Ample parking is available. All proceeds will be used for stewardship of the lake and surrounding trails. For more information visit www.lgia.org, email race director Shaun Burke at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Bernadette Lucas at 978-388-1592.
