Officer Sindoni saw the car traveling on Main Street, and began pursuing it, the chief said.
The chase continued over the Bates Bridge into Haverhill, where Sindoni was joined by Riley in a second cruiser. They pursued the car west on Groveland Street, through the downtown area, eventually passing the Haverhill police station on Bailey Boulevard. Police continued the chase on Essex Street, to Route 97, then onto Lowell Avenue.
During the chase, "the operator committed all kinds of motor vehicle violations," Kirmelewicz said.
Eventually, the vehicle came to a stop in front of the Hadley West Apartments off Lowell Avenue, near I-495 in Haverhill.
The driver of the car, Dearborn, attempted to run from the scene but was tackled by Riley, who was assisted by a Haverhill police officer. Sindoni a State Police trooper drew their guns on the passengers remaining in the vehicle, the chief said.
One of the passengers "became violent and was fighting" with police, so Sindoni used his Taser on him, Kirmelewicz said.
No officers were injured during the incident, he said.
The three male suspects were taken to the Haverhill police station for booking while the female was taken to the Groveland police station. They are all due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court this morning.
"It was good, heads-up police work," Kirmelewicz said. "It was a collaborative effort with officers providing backup."
There was no property damage and no injuries as a result of the incident or the arrests, he said. The suspect who was Tazered was treated at the scene by an ambulance crew.
