Historic New England curatorial staff and others will discuss the history and development of period wallpapers and textiles, and help attendees understand which are suitable for the period home, where to locate good quality reproductions, and how to use them effectively to enhance the appearance and design of a historic home.
Associate Curator Laura Johnson and Nancy Barnard of H-K Designs will present “Revivals and Reproduction Textiles in American Interiors.” Beauport Site Manager Pilar Garro will present “Hanging Fashion: Two Hundred Years of Historic Wallpaper at Historic New England”. Senior Preservation Services Manager Sally Zimmerman will present “Sourcing Reproduction Wallpapers for Houses from 1750 to 1950.” Source materials from Historic New England’s extensive collections of historic wallpapers and fabrics will be on display.
A meet and greet with light refreshments is in the Lecture Room, where you can meet representatives from Brunschwig & Fils and J. R. Burrows & Company. Licensed products from Waterhouse Wallhangings will be on display. Admission is $35, with discounts for Historic New England members.
