H1N1 clinics for public, students planned

The city's Health Department will hold a public H1N1 vaccination clinic on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St.

The clinic is open to all Haverhill residents. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in order to receive the vaccine.

Whittier High hosts H1N1 clinic for students, staff

The city's Health Department has provided Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School enough H1N1 vaccine for the school's 1,200 students and approximately 200 staff members.

The clinic will be held at the school on Jan 21 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Late buses will be available if needed.

"Although there has been a decrease in the number of H1N1 cases in recent weeks, it is important to remember that vaccination is the best way to protect yourself from this potentially serious disease," said Ilona Closs, a nurse at the school.

About 40 students have had flu-like symptoms since the school year began, she said.

An information packet and permission forms were sent home with students on Tuesday. The form must be signed by a parent or guardian and returned to the school by Jan. 13.
