Winnekenni Castle will hold a free “Cruise Day” this Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
The event will feature classic cars on the lawn, including cars presented by the CamSnappers Car Club of Newburyport and doo-wop music (from 1 to 4 p.m.) performed by the Magic Moments band. All cars are welcome.
Show car arrival and registration begins at 11 a.m. The event opens to the general public at noon. It includes trophies and prizes. Food and refreshments will be available. NECC photography program updated
Whether you are interested in studying photography as a hobby or a career, Northern Essex Community College is offering noncredit classes this fall for both the beginner and intermediate photographer, beginning Sept. 23.
While the photography certificate program is not new, it has been rebooted to offer hands-on projects, review sessions, and gallery visits to give participants a robust program of photography classes. Participants can enroll in just one class, focusing on a particular interest or skill, or take all the courses to complete the certificate.
Jodi Sammons Feil, a professional photographer, will teach beginner courses — Basic Photography, Beyond Basic Photography and Artist to Entrepreneur and intermediate courses — Intro to Flash Photography and Portraits.
David Petty, a professional photographer and commercial and visual imaging specialist with more than 20 years of experience, will teach intermediate level Creative-Black and White. Golf tourney/event planned for Aug. 28
The second annual Golf & Gourmet, Back to Business free golf and free networking event will be held Aug. 28 at the Merrimack Valley Golf Club, 210 Howe St., Methuen.
This event, hosted and sponsored by Simply Elegant Catering and Merrimack Valley Golf Club, is being held in collaboration with the area’s premier business organizations. Led by the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce, the event is also being presented by the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce, Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce, Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce, Greater Salem, N.H., Chamber of Commerce, Salisbury Chamber of Commerce, Methuen Board of Trade, and the Plaistow Area Commerce Exchange.
Merrimack Valley Golf Club will offer a free round of nine holes of golf to all who attend. Tee times are between 1 and 2:30 p.m. A free mixer is in the banquet hall. Guests can network, socialize and inquire about the chambers and can meet each chamber’s staff, board of directors and the hosts. Complimentary food will be provided by Simply Elegant Catering. A cash bar will be available. Raffle prizes provided by each business organization will be given out. Guests are encouraged to bring ample business cards to hand out to potential clients and customers.

Town-wide yard sale fundraiser plannedin Groveland
GROVELAND — The Friends of the Groveland Council on Aging will hold their first annual Town-Wide Yard Sale fundraiser on Sept. 21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine.
For a fee of $25, the Friends will handle publicity, yard and area signs, and town maps showing the address, particulars and location of each yard sale. The maps will be available for pickup at Town Hall on Sept. 20 and on the day of the event. Those taking part can simply hold a yard sale at their home or a friend’s home in Groveland, and keep the proceeds.
