---- — HAVERHILL — Police are searching for two men who carried out what officers said appeared to be a coordinated attack on a 34-year-old man who was walking while listening to music on his headphones.

Police said one of the suspects was on foot while the other was riding a bicycle when they came up from behind the man and hit him in the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground.

The two suspects then began beating the man, who told police they took a gift card and $70 out of his pocket and also took his iPad mini and headphones.

The robbery happened Tuesday at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Main Street and was reported to police at 8:25 p.m.

Police said the victim was taken to Merrimack Valley Hospital for treatment. When detectives interviewed the man, he was conscious and alert, but appeared to be in pain, police said.

The suspects were described as being about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds, police said. One of them was wearing a Minnesota Twins baseball cap, police said. Detective Megan Buckley is investigating.
