SALEM, N.H. — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a late-night crash with a passenger van at the intersection of Main Street and Hampstead Road.
Salem resident Sean Bonneau, 43, was first taken to Lawrence General Hospital, then flown by medical helicopter to Boston Medical Center, police said. There was no update on his condition available at press time.
His 2006 Honda motorcycle was struck by a 2000 GMC passenger van driven by 38-year-old Peter Muiruri of Haverhill.
The collision occurred at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, police said.
Initial investigations show Muiruri was traveling east on Main Street when he turned left onto Hampstead Road, into the path of Bonneau’s motorcycle.
Bonneau collided with the right front corner of the van, police said. He suffered serious facial and body injuries.
Speed appears to have been a factor, police said, but it’s unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
The accident is under investigation by the Salem Police Technical Accident Reconstruction Team. Witnesses are asked to call Sgt. Tom Kench at 603-893-1911.
