From rock to country to rap, the grounds at Winnekenni Castle will pulsate to the sound of live music when the castle plays host to the second annual Steven Lyons Memorial Rock Out & Cookout.
This family-friendly event is on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and features 15 local acts, including several area youth bands. An art show, raffles and children’s games will take place throughout the day.
Presented by the nonprofit Steve Lyons Fund, the event is rain or shine and will benefit The Sad Cafe in Plaistow. The cafe is an all-ages, nonprofit music venue with a mission to maintain a safe, clean, substance-free environment.
Lyons was killed six years ago at age 23 when he was hit by a train in Bradford while walking home from a downtown gathering with friends. His family and friends are holding this concert and cookout in his memory.
Hamburgers, hot dogs and snacks will be provided to ticket holders at no additional charge. Performers include Merrimack Delta Dub Set, The Four Legged Faithful, Break My Fall, The Resemblance, A Boy Named Sue, The Screen, Shaky Jake & the Blue Vibrations, Lost Thoughts, Woof!, Anonymous, The Sparx, Colm O’Brien, Sammy Paps, Darren Hawe and Bob Beal.
Admission is $20 at the gate or $15 in advance. Maximum price for a family is $50. Children 10 and younger are admitted free. Advance tickets are available at stevelyonsfund.bigcartel.com and The Sad Cafe, 148 Plaistow Road, Plaistow.
