The Haverhill Lions Club will hold its first Wine and Spirits Tasting Tour on Saturday, Sept. 21. Round trip transportation departs Maria’s Family Restaurant, 81 Essex St., at 10 a.m. The first stop is at Flag Hill Winery and Distillery in Lee, N.H., and includes a guided walking tour of the vineyard, winery and distillery.
Sample several wines and spirits and snack on cheese and crackers. The second stop is at WindRoc Vineyard in Newfields, N.H., where several wines will be sampled. Also enjoy cheese and crackers. A raffle and door prize is included. The third stop is at Sweet Baby Vineyard in East Kingston, N.H. Sample several wines and enjoy cheese and crackers, and a raffle and door prize. The bus will return to Haverhill at approximately 4:30 p.m.
A limited number of tickets are available at $35 each and can be reserved by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Checks should be made payable to the Haverhill Lions Club and mailed to Douglas M. Fowler, 43 Columbia Park, Haverhill, MA 01830. Please include your email address or text number. You will be sent a confirmation email. Tickets will be at “will call” at pickup location.
Demonstration of painting planned
Local artist Mark Hayden will present an oil portrait study demonstration for the Greater Haverhill Arts Association on Sunday Sept. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Haverhill Historical Society’s Buttonwoods Museum, 240 Water St.
Hayden, a Copley Master, received the prestigious Schroeder Award for Excellence in Portraiture. Through the Copley Society, Hayden has exhibited frequently, including master shows at the Harvard Club of Boston and St. Botolph’s Club.
A native and lifelong resident of Bradford, Hayden conducts classes at the Essex Art Center in Lawrence, as well as at his home studio in Bradford. The public is welcome, although space is limited. The event is free for members of the Greater Haverhill Arts Association. A donation of $5 is expected of non-members.
