GROVELAND — The lawn in front of Town Hall will be filled with residents and local groups in celebration of this year's Groveland Day on Sept. 11.
The event, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will include food, games and booths run by local organizations and vendors, as well as live entertainment.
"It's a fun day for people to come out and support the (town's) groups, meet people and do things with the kids," said Jennifer O'Malley, a member of the town Recreation Committee, which helps organize the event.
The event also will feature a Bagnall PTA cakewalk, where attendees will play a game similar to musical chairs with the hopes of claiming one of many available prizes, O'Malley said.
O'Malley said two bands will perform. Don't Call Me Shirley, a band with members who live locally, will play from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Larry and the Bluescasters, a band led by Groveland native Larry Lusignan, will perform from 1 to 3 p.m.
There will be a brief moment of silence to commemorate the ninth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11 and "remember those who are lost," O'Malley said.
The Congregational Church on King Street will host a pancake breakfast that morning in conjunction with the day's events, according to O'Malley.
The breakfast will be from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.
While Groveland Day has been at the Pines Recreation Area in recent years, the move to bring it to the front lawn of Town Hall will give the event more exposure, O'Malley said.
Groveland Day's new location will allow it to be held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, O'Malley said all of the festivities will be moved inside the fire station, just yards down the road from Town Hall.
