Doughnut shop robbed by gunman

Man stole cash, worker's car

HAVERHILL — Police are looking for a man who robbed a Dunkin’ Donuts at gunpoint early yesterday morning and then stole a female employee’s automobile to flee.

Deputy police Chief Donald Thompson said the female employee arrived at 3:54 a.m. to open the store at 20 Plaistow Road. The worker was approached by a white male dressed in black and wearing a black ski cap as she was unlocking the front door, Thompson said.

The suspect was carrying a semi-automatic handgun, Thompson said.

Thompson said the suspect ushered the employee inside and ordered her to shut off the alarm and then to open the cash register, from which he took an undetermined amount of cash.

The suspect then took the woman’s car keys and fled in her bluish-green 2002 Mercury Sable Wagon, Thompson said. The employee, who lives in New Hampshire, was unharmed, Thompson said. As of yesterday afternoon, police had not recovered the worker’s automobile.
