METHUEN — Mayor Stephen N. Zanni named Michael Karl, 14 an 8th grader at the Tenney Grammar School, Methuen’s Artist of the Month for December 2012.
Michael explained that he likes to draw town vehicles and give them to people.
“I like keeping the town clean so it is a better place to live for everybody. I support all the veterans, police officers, and firemen for all they do for the community,” he said.
According to his parents, Michael knows every town truck identification number by heart and hopes to one day work for the DPW.
“Michael is a gifted young artist and an exceptional young man,” said Mayor Zanni. “It is wonderful to see how enthusiastic he is about this city and it clearly shows in his artwork. I want to invite people to stop by my office and see Michael’s work; I know they will appreciate it as much as I do.”
The Artist of the Month Program was started six years ago, in order to give members of Methuen’s art community a forum to display their work and to encourage participation in Methuen’s growing creative economy. Artists interested in being considered for Artist of the Month should contact Juliette Cormier at 978-983-8505.
