5 picked up on drug charges in restaurant parking lot

HAVERHILL — Local police along with members of the Cross Borders Task Force arrested five people in the parking lot of the 99 Restaurant on River Street yesterday at 4:45 p.m. on a variety of drug-related charges.

Christen Agnew, 35, of 73 Marshland St., Haverhill, and Robert Condon, 38, of 67 Peaslee Crossing, Newton, N.H., were charged with possession of a class B drug with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate the drug laws.

Agnew was also charged with distribution of cocaine and Condon faced an additional charge of operating a motor vehicle without being licensed.

Julie Gill, 40, of 104 Webster St., Apt. 2, Haverhill, and Tina Brady, 43, of 60 Essex Ave., Haverhill, were charged with possession of cocaine.

Police sezied 8.8 grams of cocaine and 8 percocet pills along with $1,236 in cash.

Also arrested was Alex Hernandez, 33, of 344 Hampshire St., Lawrence, on a warrant for trafficking in heroin.

Hernandez and Agnew were held without bail, and all five defendants will be arraigned in Haverhill District Court this morning.

The arrests were made by the Haverhill Police Narcotics Unit along with members of the Cross Borders Drug Task Force. According to the Lowell Police Department Web site, the Cross Borders Task Force is a federal- and state-funded initiative aimed at combating narcotics trafficking organizations that are based along the northern border of Massachusetts.
