Neighbors report suspicious van

HAVERHILL — Police are investigating a suspicious red van that has been seen in the Nellie Street area on two occasions.

A resident of Nellie Street, a dead-end street, told police the dark red Chrysler van pulled onto the street about 8:30 a.m. Monday.

The driver was described as a man in his 40s, and the vehicle was described as a work van.

The woman told police she was concerned because one of the children waiting for the bus with adults told them the van had been around during the previous week.

The children told the adults they saw a flash, but were not sure if it was the sun or the person in the van taking a picture.

Police were not contacted after that incident, the woman said.

She told police she would tell the neighbors to contact police if the van returns and to try to get a plate number from the van.

Police said the man in the van has not tried to contact anyone in his travels.

The incidents were reported at 10:19 a.m. Monday, police said.
