Environmentally friendly courses offered at NECC

Beginning with the spring semester, Northern Essex Community College students will be offered a series of green courses infused with an eco-friendly theme. At least 15 percent of each course will be green focused and students will have the opportunity to either perform environmentally friendly service learning, develop a green project or present a green presentation. Courses include Introduction to Biology II, Introduction to Business, Integrated Computer Applications, Green Technology, Environmental Issues and Statistics. Some of the work in the spring courses will be showcased in a Green Open House sponsored by the college's Business, Math, Science and Technology Division, to be held in April. Faculty and staff from throughout the college community have been working for more than a year regarding this issue. The college's aim is to begin to infuse content about environmental sustainability into as many of our courses as is appropriate. For more information, contact Bill Heineman, NECC's dean of business, math, science and technology, at 978-556-3339 or wheineman@necc.mas.edu.
