Police nab suspected shovel-bandit in Haverhill

HAVERHILL — Police this morning arrested a local man suspected of shoveling snow for elderly women and then coming back later to rob their houses.

Charles Rogers, 50, of 11 Park St., Apt. 8, Haverhill, was arrested following an investigation into house breaks over the weekend after he approached several older women with offers to shovel their driveways for a fee.

He was charged with four counts of breaking and entering during the daytime, felony intent, and one count of breaking and entering in the daytime while putting a person in fear. He was also arrested on a warrant for two counts of receiving stolen property.

He is being arraigned today in Haverhill District Court.
