U.S. Rep. Tsongas to host Congress on Your Corner Saturday

DRACUT – Congresswoman Niki Tsongas will host her Congress on Your Corner program Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. at Shaw Farm in Dracut.

Tsongas will have congressional staff with her and will be available to discuss any issue or concern on the minds of Third District residents. She will also be able to collect the appropriate information about an individual problem someone may have with a federal agency so that her office can assist in helping to resolve the matter.

This is an open invitation and all residents are encouraged to attend.

Sen. Finegold appoints new aide

BOSTON — State Sen. Barry Finegold, D-Andover, has hired a new director of communications and constituent services. Sonali Lappin has joined his the Andover Democrat’s Senate office after spending just over a year as a constituent services aide to Gov. Deval Patrick. Lappin has a degree in English and political science from Mount Holyoke College.

Paintings on display at Buttonwoods Museum

HAVERHILL — Paintings from Haverhill long ago line the walls of the Buttonwoods Museum. During a History for Half Pints workshop titled “Pictures & Portraits,” children will explore the museum and then make their own portraits. Snacks and games are included. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, and is limited to 10 children ages 6 and under. Cost is $5 per child. No charge for caregivers. H&R Block to host Second Look Event

HAVERHILL — The H&R Block office at 2 Water St. will host a free Second Look event tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. At the same time, Next Step Living will host an efficiency workshop about how to save on energy costs during this harsh winter
