Community Action Inc. in Haverhill will again offer free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) for area residents who need help preparing their 2013 federal and/or state tax returns. Evening and Saturday appointments will be available through April 15. VITA will be available in Haverhill on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings at 145 Essex St. Appointments are required. The VITA tax preparation service is available to low-to moderate-income people (generally $51,000 and below).
A new option available this year will be the availability of a Kiosk for people who would like to prepare their own taxes. Folk music artist to perform
Folk music artist Chelsea Berry will perform at the New Moon Coffeehouse on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 8 p.m. Opening act is Kangaralien, the musically dazzling Boston-based acoustic guitar duo of Eric Clemenzi and Steve Belleville. Admission is $20 and $10 for ages 18 and under. The New Moon Coffeehouse is a nonprofit, an all-volunteer organization dedicated to supporting and enjoying the creative talents of acoustic performers. The coffeehouse offers a relaxing, friendly, smoke and alcohol free environment where you can enjoy a great show, fair trade coffee, and desserts. Bring your own mug and the coffee is only $1. The coffeehouse is located in the Universalist Unitarian Church, 16 Ashland St. There are two parking lots available behind the church, on both sides of Ashland Street. The coffeehouse entrance is also there, at the back of the church.
