Man robs Pentucket Bank in Haverhill

HAVERHILL — A man wearing a dark blue Boston Red Sox baseball cap walked into the Pentucket Bank at 35 Merrimack St. yesterday at 11:12 a.m. and robbed an undisclosed amount of money, according to police.

The suspect handed a note to the teller demanding money, left through the front door and fled on foot down Water Street, Detective Lieutenant Robert Pistone said.

Police released photos taken from a surveillance video and are seeking the public’s help in solving the crime.

They are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect in the photo or has other information to contact Haverhill Detectives at 978-373-1212.

This robbery follows several other similar incidents in the Merrimack Valley in recent weeks.

A Lowell man was arrested on Interstate-495 Thursday morning, after he allegedly robbed the Sovereign Bank at Broadway and Park Street in Lawrence and then led State Police on a 6-mile chase.

On Tuesday, Salem, N.H. police arrested Rafael Beamud Jr., 32, of Lowell, who is suspected of being the Merrimack Valley Bandit, responsible for 15 robberies in the region.
