Annual Chowderfest is slated for Sunday

The fifth annual Winnekenni Chowderfest will be held Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at Winnekenni Castle.

Visitors can sample chowders from the region’s finest restaurants and caterers and vote for their favorites. This year’s entertainment includes big band music by Itchy Feet, steel pan music by Toby Tobas, and headliner band the B St. Bombers. Children’s activities include a bouncy house, games and a live performance by the Roaring Duck Puppets. Shopping at Creative Haverhill’s mobile art shop will be available.

Sampling of chowder concludes at 3:30 p.m. and winners will be announced at the conclusion of the festival. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. More information is available at winnekenni.com.

Mad Hatter Day

at library Saturday


Mad Hatter Day will be celebrated at the public library on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Cavalarro room.

Children will make their own Mad Hatter hats. The event is for ages 5 and older. More information is available at haverhillpl.org.

Star Wars Reads

Day is Saturday


The public library will celebrate Star Wars Reads Day on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Activities include a character guessing game, movie trivia, costume contest and LEGO Star Wars. More information is available at haverhillpl.org.

Church plans ham and bean supper

The First Church of Christ will hold a ham and bean supper Saturday at 5 p.m.

The meal includes baked ham, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, home-baked bread, dessert and beverages. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Democrats open campaign headquarters

The Haverhill Democratic City Committee has opened a coordinated campaign headquarters in the Landmark Building, 76 Merrimack St.
