Enjoy books, breakfast in Hampstead

HAMPSTEAD — The first Books for Breakfast event of 2013 at Hampstead Public Library is Jan. 5 from 9 to 11 a.m.

This event is designed to give families a chance to spend time together in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Enjoy books, crafts, hot drinks and breakfast. There is no admission charge.

The library is at 9 Mary E. Clark Drive.

New Year’s Day

HAVERHILL — The public library will close at 5 p.m. on Monday and will be closed Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.

Hampstead GOP Committee elections set for Jan. 8

HAMPSTEAD — The town’s Republican Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 at the Hampstead Public Library to elect officers for 2013-2014.

The positions up for election include chairman, vice chairman, treasurer and communication chairman/secretary.

You must be a resident of Hampstead, a registered Republican, and willing to work to spread Republican values to be eligible for an elected position.

Library changes schedule for Special Collections room

HAVERHILL — The Special Collections room at the public library will have different hours in the new year.

The room will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m., instead of Wednesday and Friday. Special Collections houses Massachusetts Vital Statistics, Haverhill photos, Haverhill High yearbooks, historical information about the city and genealogy resources.
