ANDOVER — Two were arrested Thursday on theft-related charges after a drug overdose on South Main Street triggered a wide police response.
At 6:49 a.m., police received a call from someone at 294 South Main St., who reported that a 46-year-old man at the address appeared dead. The death is believed to be accidental, caused by a drug overdose, according to police. The address has a history of drug activity.
During the investigation into the death, someone at the home reported that a watch was missing. It was also later learned that someone at the scene had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
That person, 29-year-old Khamal McCalop, of Mattapan, was arrested on a warrant with two charges. Police also determined that he stole the watch, for which he was charged with larceny from a building, according to police.
Over an hour later, police recovered the watch from someone at the scene. At that point, Sonia Skeen, 44, of Milton, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property valued at over $250.
The identity of the deceased man is not currently being released by police or the state Medical Examiner’s office. The two arrested in the incident were guests at the home when the events took place.
