HAVERHILL — One man was arrested on burglary charges after he was confronted by an elderly woman in her South Webster Street home this morning.

Anthony Fowler, 22, of 132 River St., Haverhill, has been charged with unarmed burglary after he broke into a house at 55 South Webster St. around 2:30 a.m.

The woman who lives in the house heard something and when she went to investigate found Fowler inside her house.

When she confronted him, he told her he was just looking for a place to stay for the night.

She told him to leave and he walked out, police said.

The woman called police, saying she was concerned about his well-being.

He was arrested in the neighborhood shortly after her 911 call came in at 2:41 a.m.

There were no threats made or any physical contact during the confrontation.
