Sale benefits high school Drama Club

The Drama Club at Haverhill High School will hold its first Mattress Fundraiser Sale on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

Coupons good for a $50 savings are available today and tomorrow at Haverhill High, 137 Monument St. Quality, brand name pillow-top, orthopedic, latex, memory foam and gel beds will be available for 30 to 60 percent off retail price. Profits go directly to supporting the drama club. All items are new and have factory warranties. Delivery is available. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted.

Library presents Black Heritage Trail

GROVELAND — The Langley-Adams Library will host a presentation by the Boston African American Historical Site on the Black Heritage Trail, in honor of Black History Month.

This presentation is Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will cover multiple stops along the Black Heritage Trail, including the 54th Massachusetts Regiment, which was the first black regiment in the north to fight in the Civil War. Centered on the north slope of Beacon Hill, the free African American community of 19th century Boston led the city and the nation in the fight against slavery and injustice. Together with their white allies, they lead in the Abolition Movement, the Underground Railroad, the Civil War, and the early struggle for equal rights and education.

Fundraiser to feature top comics

Comedy for a Cause, Community Action Inc.'s annual fundraising event, is March 15 at the Haverhill Country Club, 58 Brickett Lane.

This comedy triple-header features Boston favorites Graig Murphy, Carolyn Plummer and Jim Lauletta, along with a live auction and raffles. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door.

Boston artist exhibits at NECC

Boston artist Dana Clancy will exhibit nearly a dozen of her paintings now through Feb. 23 at the ArtSpace in the Harold Bentley Library at Northern Essex Community College’s Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott St.

ArtSpace hours are Monday through Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m., Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is closed on Sunday. Clancy's past exhibitions have included group shows in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts as well as the solo show “Viewing Space” at the Danforth Museum of Art. Clancy has taught at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and at University of Connecticut School of Fine Arts. For more information contact pkidney@necc.mass.edu.
