HAVERHILL — A city man bought a new washer and dryer for his home and put the older, but still working, washer and dryer in his driveway with the intention of selling them later, police said.
He never got the chance.
The Marshland Street man told police that after he put the old Whirlpool washer and dryer in the driveway, he left his house and returned less than two hours later to find the appliances gone.
The man told police a neighbor might have seen a dark-colored older model Chevrolet Silverado parked in the area during the afternoon.
The theft is believed to have occurred between 1 and 3 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
