ANDOVER -- Police are investigating a break at a cleaner’s on North Main Street in which a healthy amount of cash was reported stolen.
The owner of John Anton’s Cleaners notified police on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 3:37 p.m. that his building had been broken into sometime after 6:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Lt. Edward Guy.
Guy said the owner reported that the entrance to the business was unlocked when he arrived there Sunday afternoon, There was no sign of forced entry, Guy said.
Drop bags in two locations inside the dry cleaner’s were missing less than $1,000 in cash total. Credit card receipts were left behind, and Guy said police have no reason to believe customer information was compromised.
After the break was reported, police checked with residents in neighboring apartments, but nobody reported seeing anything out of the ordinary, according to Guy. There are no suspects at this time, and police are still investigating, he said.
