Haverhill residents warned of car breaks

HAVERHILL — Police are warning drivers to lock the doors of their vehicles and to avoid leaving any valuables in them after a rash of car breaks.

Many of the breaks happened in the Central Square and Zion Bible College areas of Bradford.

Police said thieves are taking every opportunity they can to steal wallets, pocketbooks, spare change and other valuables from vehicles parked at businesses, in front of homes and even in driveways.

"Lock up your car and try not to leave any valuables in them," said police Deputy Chief Donald Thompson. "If you have to, try to hide or secure your valuables and don't leave them on the console.''

A complete report will appear in tomorrow's Eagle-Tribune.
