---- — A Haverhill man led police on a chase through two states on Thursday night.
George Nelson IV, 25, of 15 6th Ave., was driving a 2003 white Ford F-350 pickup truck on New Boston Road in Kingston when police attempted to pull him over for driving with a suspended license at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Nelson took off when police pulled up behind him, according to Kingston police Chief Donald Briggs, and continued onto Route 108 toward Newton.
Kingston police alerted Newton police. That department set up spike strips in the road, but police said Nelson drove around the strips and kept going.
Nelson then crossed over the Massachusetts’ border into Merrimac, Briggs said.
Merrimac police then pursued the truck into Haverhill on Route 125. Nelson then north to Plaistow, Briggs said, before turning back into Haverhill, where officers lost sight of him.
Briggs said the chase reached speeds of about 65 mph and lasted about half an hour.
Police found the truck parked at Nelson’s house, but they weren’t able to locate him.
Police have an arrest warrant for Nelson. He is wanted with disobeying an officer, reckless conduct, driving while a habitual offender and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
