---- — WINDHAM — Police have arrested a Windham man on charges of felonious sexual assault and aggravated felonious sexual assault involving a 15-year-old girl.
But he told police the sex was consensual, not forced, according to court papers.
Matthew J. Hand, 19, of 20 London Bridge Road, is due in court tomorrow.
Windham police Capt. Mike Caron said Hand is being held on $10,000 cash bail at the Rockingham County jail, pending a probable cause hearing in 10th Circuit Court in Salem.
At his arraignment last week, Hand was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim.
She told police when she went to Baked on Pastries May 1 to pick up a pie, Hand brought her into an office, rubbed her thighs and said he wanted to have sex, according to court records.
She told police she repeatedly said no and to stop, but Hand grabbed her by the wrist and forced her to have sex in a bathroom.
Hand disputed that account when he spoke with police, telling investigators the sex was consensual and the alleged victim gave him a hug when she left.
Hand was a member of the Windham High School’s wrestling team.
