Man seriously hurt in Hampstead accident

HAMPSTEAD — An East Hampstead man was seriously injured yesterday evening after he was struck by a car on Central Street.

Kevin Coady, 20, of East Hampstead was riding a non-motorized scooter north on central street near Moulton Drive when he was struck by a 1999 Chrysler van, driven by Christina Soucy, 34, of Plaistow. The accident occurred at 5:36 p.m.

Coady suffered serious injuries to his head, arm and other areas of his body, Hampstead police Lt. John Frazier said.

He was flown to Beth israel Hospital by medical helicopter.

Coady was dressed all in black — black coat, clack jeans and black sneakers, Frazier said.

Neither speed nor driver impairment appear to have been factors in the accident, he said.

Hampstead police are investigating, with assistance from the Derry police technical accident reconstruction team.
