Pair charged in Salem theft case

SALEM, N.H. — Two Bradford women face charges after police say they stole items from a local store and backed into a security worker while driving away.

Rebecca Finn, 33, and Monica Cochrane, 32, were arrested following a shoplifting incident Monday at Kohl’s department store at 92 Cluff Crossing Road.

Salem police received a call shortly after 4 p.m. from a Kohl’s security employee who said the two women stole merchandise from the store and tried to flee the parking lot. They were accompanied by children.

The employee, whose name was not released, told police he was standing behind the black Toyota Camry so the woman couldn’t escape. But Finn, who was driving the vehicle, backed into the employee, injuring his knee, according to police.

Officers responded, arresting the two women in front of Petco, police said.

Finn was arrested on three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and a single count of theft.

Cochrane, her neighbor, was arrested on a single theft count. Both women were released on $620 cash bail pending their arraignment.
