Other issues got similar scrutiny.

A town request to take $1 million out of free cash to put into a Ledge Road Landfill Stabilization Fund got the attention of Selectman Dan Kowalski. The money would be used to pay the $14.4 million cost of closing the landfill.

“Chelmsford is capping their landfill for $500,000,” he said. “I want to be cautious about taking free cash and throwing it into an account without a price for the project.”

The board voted in favor of the article anyway.
