LAWRENCE — A man who was thrown from his motorcycle and landed on top of a car Saturday night has been charged with drunken driving and unlicensed operation.
Osvaldo Pastrana, 47, of Spruce Street, is also charged with reckless operation, attaching wrong plates and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
It appears Pastrana was driving at a high rate of speed when he collided with a blue Subaru at Avon and Bruce streets at 6:50 p.m., according to interim police Chief James Fitzpatrick.
Pastrana suffered head and face trauma and leg abrasions, Fitzpatrick said. He was wearing a helmet and that may have saved his life, Fitzpatrick said.
Pastrana was taken to Lawrence General Hospital.
Initial reports described a “bloody male on a Subaru Forester,” the chief said. The intersection at Avon and Bruce streets has four stop signs, he noted.
The driver of the Subaru was not injured but the car was seriously damaged and was towed.
Officer Thomas Murphy investigated the accident.
