Mosquitoes with EEE found in Danville

DANVILLE — Mosquitoes carrying Eastern equine encephalitis have been trapped at Danville Elementary School.

A notice has been posted on the school's website to tell the public mosquitoes with the virus were found at two places in town. The other location was not identified.

Superintendent of Schools Earl Metzler has ordered that all students remain inside at recess until the threat of EEE ends.

The risk of anyone in Danville contracting EEE is low, the notice said. Mosquitoes with EEE or West Nile virus have been trapped in several Southern New Hampshire towns, including Sandown, Salem and Derry, Newton.

A horse in Derry that contracted EEE later died.
