Photo in newspaper leads to gunman's arrest, police say

HAVERHILL — A photo which appeared in The Eagle-Tribune last week led to the arrest of a man who police said robbed a CVS at gunpoint Sept. 30.

Police arrested Richard Kennedy, 41, of 10 Varnum St, Apt. #2, and charged him with armed robbery while masked. Kennedy was also charged with discharging a firearm among other charges in conjunction with another incident where shots were fired on Presidential Avenue on Oct. 2.

The Eagle-Tribune published a photo taken from surveillance video at the CVS on Lowell Avenue that shows a man with a scarf pulled over his face. Police said the man was the robber. They asked the public for help identifying him.

The arrest happened early Friday morning at Kennedy's home. He is being held without bail at Middleton jail, pending a detention hearing later this month.

A complete report will appear in tomorrow's edition of The Eagle-Tribune.
