Problems for commuters on 93 and 125 this morning

A series of mishaps on I-93 and Route 125 in Wilmington backed up traffic into Andover and beyond this morning.

According to State Police, the problems started with a disabled car in the median strip of I-93 South near Exit 41/Route 125, at 5:15 a.m.

At 5:45 a.m., there was a six-car pileup behind the disabled car. While there were no personal injuries, four vehicles were towed.

About the same time, a car fire erupted on Route 125 near Exit 41. The Wilmington Fire Department got the fire out and was removing the vehicle by around 7:15 a.m.

State Police said there were no injuries but that Route 125 in Wilmington was shut down while firefighters extinguished the blaze.

The accidents backed up traffic into Andover and beyond and continue to cause problems for morning commuters.
