Baby Snowden is the area's first of 2013

LAWRENCE — The first baby of year arrived at 5:24 a.m. yesterday at Lawrence General Hospital.

Meet Snowdwn Li Irawan, son of Cuirong Li and Ferry Irawan.

Snowden was due on Christmas Eve, but arrived a little later than expected. His parents named him Snowden due to the snowy weather around his expected birth date.

“It’s one of a kind,” said proud father Ferry, 21. “I’ve been so blessed. I feel like it’s God’s gift. God had plans for him, with his due date on Christmas Eve.”

After a lengthy labor, his wife, 24-year-old Cuirong Li, tried to rest yesterday afternoon, but well-wishers continued to arrive in droves with kind words and food.

“Last night, while everyone was celebrating, she was here in bed fighting to have the baby. I’m so proud of her,” Irawan said.

Soon Irawan will be returning to his job at Thyme Japanese Cuisine on Turnpike Street in North Andover, while Li will stay home with Snowden.
