Rollover closes I-93 ramp in Andover

ANDOVER — A tractor-trailer rolled over while navigating the exit ramp leading from Interstate 93 north to Interstate 495 south yesterday afternoon, and the driver was taken to the hospital.

State Police and Andover Fire and Rescue responded to the roll over at 12:30 p.m. and closed the ramp to traffic for about an hour and a half. No lanes on either interstate were closed to traffic. A container fell from the trailer, but did not contain any hazardous material, officials said. No fuel was spilled.

Andover Deputy Fire Chief Keith Weightman said the driver of the tractor trailer had to be extricated from the cab and was transported to Lawrence General Hospital. The driver was in stable condition after the crash, he said.

The rig was the only vehicle involved in the rollover, Weightman said.
