Fire reported in Japanese airliner at Logan

BOSTON – Firefighters this morning responded to a fire inside an empty Japan Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner parked at a gate at the international terminal.

The FAA told WBZ-TV that a cleaning crew discovered the smoke on the plane around 10:40 a.m.

There were no crew or passengers on board at the time and no reports of injuries.

It’s not clear yet how the fire started, but the Boston Fire Department tweeted that the cause was electrical, according to the WBZ report.

Last April, Japan Airlines launched the first non-stop service from Logan to Tokyo’s Narita Airport using the new Boeing 787.
