Video shows store clerk robbery, pepper-spray attack

LAWRENCE — A convenience store clerk was robbed and pepper-sprayed and police hope the public can help them identify the bandits.

A surveillance tape released yesterday shows the two masked robbers entering Tedeschi market at 208 So. Broadway at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

The robbers clean the cash out of two registers and then steal cigarettes from a counter display. The 42-year-old clerk is pepper-sprayed before the robbers leave the store. One of the men was also carrying a large kitchen knife.

One man was taller and was holding the knife. He was wearing a black jacket, red bandanna over his face, blue jeans and light brown work boots, according to a police report.

The second man had on a gray jacket, red bandanna over his face, blue jeans and black sneakers. He sprayed the clerk with pepper spray.

Both men ran east on Andover Street toward Parker Street.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Lawrence detectives at 978-794-5900, ext. 625.
