NORTH ANDOVER — Police have identified the man killed today in a motorcycle accident as Carrol Sylvanowicz, 66, of Beverly.

The accident occurred at 11 a.m. on Route 114, just over the Middleton line near the intersection of Sharpners Pond Road. Sylvanowicz was transported from the scene by a Middleton ambulance and pronounced dead at Lawrence General Hospital, police said.

Sylvanowicz was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson. Also involved in the crash was a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The male driver of the pickup was transported to Lawrence General with non-life-threatening injuries, according to North Andover police Lt. Charles Gray.

Gray did not release the name of the pickup driver. He said details of the accident were not available and the crash remains under investigation by the North Andover Police Department's accident reconstruction unit.

Gray said Sylvanowicz received first aid at the accident scene by a Middleton officer and North Andover officer who responded from a nearby traffic detail.

The crash tied up traffic on Route 114 for approximately 45 minutes, with vehicles travelling through both lanes at reduced speeds.
