Methuen woman injured in New Year's Eve car accident

METHUEN — A local woman remains in a Boston hospital this morning after a single-car accident on Maple Street Monday night.

Regine Fountain, 28, of 10 Independence Drive, was injured when her car struck a tree near 152 Maple St. at 10:36 p.m. on New Year's Eve.

She was taken to Lawrence General Hospital then flown by medical helicopter to Beth Israel Hospital. She was listed in fair condition this morning, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The Mass. State Police accident reconstruction team is investigating, police said.

Maple Street runs from Howe Street into Salem, N.H. The accident occurred not far from the New Hampshire border.
