Woman crashes into tree after evading police

DERRY — A 26-year-old woman was arrested after she refused to stop for police, crashed into a tree and broke her leg.

On Friday, police followed Bethany Carrie on Miltimore Road. She refused to stop and eventually crashed into a tree, according to published reports.

She was trapped in her car for up to 20 minutes. Her legs were pinned under the dashboard and she was eventually freed by firefighters.

Carrie was taken to Parkland Medical Center where she was treated for a broken right leg.

Upon her release from Parkland, she was arrested and charged with disobeying a police officer, according to reports.
