Bomb squad headed to Haverhill home

HAVERHILL - A discarded mortar shell found in a Greenlawn Avenue home has prompted a visit from the state police bomb squad.

Haverhill Police Lt. Robert Pistone said police and fire responded to the home about 3:30 p.m. and found the device. Investigators could not determine whether the device was live. The immediate area surrounding the home has been cordoned off.

The shell was found during a clean out of the home.
