Two candidates battling for Atkinson road agent

ATKINSON — Longtime road agent Edward Stewart has a challenger for his position this year.

Brian Klimaszewski also is seeking the two-year term.

Stewart has been the road agent since 1992. Klimaszewski is a political newcomer.

Both candidates said budgeting was an important aspect of the job.

What is the most important issue facing the road agent? Funding diesel fuel and liquid asphalt. Every cost item for the highway department is increasing. I will stretch your tax dollars as far as possible.

Brian Klimaszewski

Incumbent: No

Elective Experience: None

What is the most important issue facing the road agent? Safety, upkeep of roads, sight distance, proper signs and stop bars, being available for the townspeople and staying within the budget.
