Alleged drunk driver hits police cruiser

RAYMOND — While investigating a motor vehicle crash, a town police officer found himself involved in one.

Officer Sean Benoit was seated in his cruiser in the parking lot of 7-11 on Route 107 around 6:05 p.m., when his cruiser was hit by a car.

That driver, Myles Edwards, age 25 of Hampstead, N.H., had just purchased a 6-pack of beer at the store. Edwards was backing out of a parking spot when his car collided with the parked cruiser.

Neither Benoit or Edwards was injured. However, police arrested Edwards and charged him with aggravated driving while intoxicated.

Edwards was released on personal recognizance bail with a court date of Dec. 11 in Candia District Court.
