Rivera names co-chairs of transition team

LAWRENCE -- Daniel Rivera has named two co-chairs for his mayoral transition team.

They are Zoila Gomez, a lawyer and trustee of the University of Massachusetts, and Maggie Super Church, who chairs the national board of Groundwork USA. Both are Lawrence residents.

“These are Lawrence women who are recognized as leaders in their fields and who truly value the city,” Rivera said in an emailed statement.

“Together, we will form the right structure, the right team, and the right process- to facilitate the orderly transition of power. We intend to work collaboratively with Mayor Lantigua’s administration to ensure a thorough and thoughtful transition in January. This is the first step in implementing our plan to make Lawrence better.”

Rivera, who holds a 57-vote lead over Mayor William Lantigua pending a possible recount, said the rest of the transition team members will be named in coming weeks.
