---- — WINDHAM — A Windham man is recovering after a pickup truck propelled him through a garage door at the transfer station, officials said.
The injuries to Sean Donahue, 43, were not life threatening, though he was taken to the hospital, police Chief Gerald Lewis said.
The accident happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Saturday, one of the busiest days of the week at the transfer station, and forced its temporary closure.
"There are no charges as of now," Lewis said.
The accident remains under investigation but it appears to be the result of operator error, the chief said.
Driver Ray St. Laurent, 60, also of Windham, told police his foot slipped off the brake, causing the pickup to reverse accidentally.
Donahue was on foot outside the garage door when the pickup truck struck him, officials said.
Dennis Senibaldi, solid waste management supervisor, said the transfer station is open. Damage to the door was being evaluated yesterday, he said.
"He took down a good chunk of the garage door," Senibaldi said.
Solid waste officials referred questions about the accident victim's identity to public safety officials. But Senibaldi said he was aware the injured man was home from the hospital and resting.
