Alleged library hooker also wanted on Methuen warrant for drugs

METHUEN — Brittany Macintyre, the young woman arrested for alleged prostitution at the Tewksbury Public Library this week, failed to show up for her arraignment on Methuen drug charges from last Valentine’s Day, according to police and court records.

On Tuesday, Macintyre, 20, of Nashua, N.H., was arrested in Tewksbury after she allegedly passed notes with an undercover police officer and then asked him for $60 for sex. Police in that town charged her with sexual conduct for a fee.

Back on Valentine’s Day, Macintyre was arrested for illegal possession of cocaine and heroin in Methuen.

Around 12:30 p.m. that day, Macintyre is believed to have been involved in a hand-to-hand drug sale at Haverhill Street and Columbus Avenue, according to a Methuen police report.

Macintyre had been in a minivan that pulled alongside a Toyota Highlander. She allegedly got out of car and got into the Toyota where “the exchange took place,” according to police.

Arrested at the same time was Edward Sassman, 29, of Manchester, N.H. who was also charged with illegal possession of cocaine and heroin, Methuen police said.

A warrant was issued for Macintyre’s arrest after she failed to show up for her arraignment on drug charges in Lawrence District Court.

Macintyre was released on personal recognizance after her arraignment on prostitution charges in Lowell District Court. She’s expected back in that court on July 30.
